Hatmaker Goorin Bros. wants Denver to put a lid on it
When Ben Goorin told his father he wanted to enter the family business hat is almost 20 years, his father did not believe him.
"He was in survival mode," said Goorin, 40. "He could not understand why I was interested in him."
Flash Forward to 2010 and member of the fourth generation of this family hat-making has boosted retail sales, the company founded by his great grandfather in 1895 Cassel Goorin. Goorin Bros., based in San Francisco, has opened 10 retail stores in recent years, most recently earlier this spring at 1410 Larimer St., Denver.
Buoyed by the growth of business men of the mode-of-shape over the last 10 years - partly fueled by the actors and musicians of trends - the company has expanded from primarily a wholesale business to be a leader industry. The stores and website (goorin.com) offer over 300 styles of hats for men and women, $ 20 to $ 60.
